2023 OUTLOOK: The Giants are headed in new direction now that Russ Mann is taking over on the West side. Mann has an excellent coaching pedigree working under some of the best head coaches in the state. The Giants are coming off a 6-4 season including an opening round sectional loss to Brownsburg. Can Ben Davis return to prominence in 6A football again? Coach Mann believes they can. Coach Mann has several pieces in place to make some noise this season including QB Thomas Gotkowski. The Duke recruit had some huge numbers as a junior (62.9% passer, 2,341 yards, 24 TDs; 107 rushing yards, four TDs). Gotkowski will have plenty of help again this season with the return of RB’s Alijah Price (968 rushing yards, 12 TDs) and Isaac White (246 yards, three TDs). Add WR Zane Skibinski (29 catches, 308 yards, two TDs) and you have a potent offense to deal with.
On defense, the Giants will count on LB Nylan Brown (109 tackles, eight tackles for loss), DB Elijah Hurns (65 tackles), LB Toreeq Oyesigi (57 tackles, seven tackles for loss), DB Alvin Contreras (42 solo tackles), DE Chris Green (38 tackles, 4 ½ sacks) and DB Mark Zackery.
The Giants will be tested early with games at Cincinnati Moeller and IMG Academy.
