LAST MEETING: Mount Vernon, 45-14, Aug. 30, 2019: Mt. Vernon took advantage of excellent field position throughout the night, built and early lead and downed the Red Devils 45-14 in game two of the 2019 season. The Red Devils scored first on a Wyatt Byrd 3 Yd Rushing TD and Richmond surprised the Marauders early leading 7-0. The lead didn’t last long as Keegan Labelle answered with a 92 Yd Kick Return for a TD with just over 8 minutes remaining in the first quarter. Richmond didn’t score again until late in the third quarter, but by then the Marauders were up 45-7.

QB Drew VanVleet finished the game 5-8 for 120 yards. RB Wyatt Byrd led the RHS offense with 115 yards on 24 carries and two touchdowns. Mt. Vernon QB Gehrig Slunaker had a huge night going 11-18 for 202 yards and a touchdown. The Marauders outgained the Red Devils 367-236.

Defensively RHS was led by LB Jake Haynes and DB Jack Guiley with 11 tackles each.

LAST MEETING: Lincoln, 19-14, Aug. 30, 2019: The Golden Eagles won a huge TEC contest by scores the only points of the second half in beating the Patriots 19-14. Lincoln RB Alex Hokey led the Lincoln offense with 174 yards on 25 carries and two scores. QB Alex Bertsch threw for 101 yards and a touchdown. Hokey was instrumental on defense as well leading the Golden Eagles with 15 total tackles, Jacob Ervin had 13 and Gavin Sherwood added 11. QB Mason Wicker led the Patriots offense with 103 rushing yards and 35 through the air. Wicker is back at running back for this match-up and Zach Hill returns at QB. Wicker had 330 yards rushing against Northeastern last week and Hill threw for three scores and 195 yards through the air.

 

Hagerstown (0-1) at Centerville (1-0)

COACHES: Scott Snodgrass, 55-44 in 10th year at Hagerstown, Kyle Padgett, 20-21 in 5th year at Centerville.

LAST OUTING: Hagerstown lost to Knightstown, 21-13. Centerville defeated Cambridge City Lincoln, 48-6.

LAST MEETING: Centerville, 16-0, Aug. 30, 2019: Centerville’s defense was the key in this TEC victory. Hagerstown was held to just 105 yards of total offense as the Bulldogs shutdown the Tigers 16-0. Drew Vanwinkle led the Bulldogs defense with 12 total tackles, Austin Snyder and Collin Snyder had 10 each. Centerville rushed for 220 yards led by QB Ryan Dickenson with 95 yards and Jamari Pamplin adding 83. Dickenson went 7-13 for 69 yards in the air. Hagerstown managed just 44 rushing yards and QN Noah Snodgrass went 7-15 for 61 yards through the air. Centerville is coming off a dominating performance against Lincoln last week beating the Golden Eagles 48-6. Hagerstown lost at Knightstown 21-13. The Bulldogs can match last year’s 2-0 start with a win this week before a non-conference match-up in week three against Shenandoah. The Tigers are looking to avoid their second straight season starting at 0-2.

COACHES: John Hochstetler, 64-31 in 9th year at Monroe Central, Keith Maloy, 40-45 in 9th year at Union City.

LAST OUTING: Monroe Central defeated Wabash, 29-14. Union City lost to Tri, 35-12.

LAST MEETING: Monroe Central, 36-7, Aug. 30, 2019: The Golden Bears dominated both sides of the football in a 36-7 win. Sophomore QB Jackson Ullom had a big night going 14-17 for 153 yards and two touchdowns. RB Sam Feola added 92 yards on the ground. The Indians managed only 76 yards of total offense in the loss.

LAST OUTING: Northeastern lost to Union County, 53-15. Tri defeated Union City, 35-12.

LAST MEETING: Northeastern, 20-7, Aug. 30, 2019: The Knights scored the first 14 points of the game and never looked back in a 20-7 TEC victory. Northeastern RB Shane Berry led the attack with 109 rushing yards and QB Garrett Tudor went 5-8 for 99 yards and a score through the air. The Titans had three players rush for 50-plus yards led by Zach Davis with 57, Vade Dishman had 52 and Tyler Kingery added 50. Northeastern will have to find a way to slow down the Titans running attack especially after giving up 330 yards last week to Union County RB Mason Wicker in the season opening loss to Union County. Tri opened the season with a 35-12 win over Union City by rushing for 268 yards. Dishman led the Titans with 181 yards, averaging 12.1 yards per carry.
