Iowa and Michigan Earn Big Ten Weekly Women’s Basketball Awards

Hawkeyes’ Clark and Wolverines’ Hillmon selected for this week’s conference honors

Player of the Week

Naz Hillmon, Michigan

Jr. – F – Cleveland, Ohio – Gilmour Academy – Major: Communications

• Averaged 29.5 points and 17.5 rebounds per game with a .600 field-goal percentage in No. 15/14 Michigan’s two Big Ten wins, also helping the Wolverines to its first ever 9-0 start 

• Scored 35 points and 22 rebounds in the win against Nebraska on Thursday, recording the nation’s second 30-20 game of the season 

• Registered 24 points and 13 rebounds in the win versus Illinois on Sunday helping her earn her the title of ESPN Player of the Week 

• Earns her third career Big Ten Player of the Week award and second of the season

Big Ten Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll

Grace Berger, Jr., G, IND: Averaged 17.7 points, 8.3 assists, 6.0 rebounds, shot .558 from the floor as she completed her second triple-double of the season at Penn State and helped Indiana go 2-1 on the week

Ashley Owusu, So., G, MD: Averaged 19.7 points, 6.7 assists and 6.0 rebounds in the three wins that included two against top-25 opponents (No. 20/18 Indiana and No. 23/24 Michigan State)

Sam Haiby, Jr., G, NEB: Averaged 19 points, 10.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists as Nebraska picked up a win against No. 23/24 Michigan State and drop a game against No. 15/14 Michigan last week, along with recording her first double-double of her career

Freshman of the Week

Caitlin Clark, Iowa

Fr. – G – West Des Moines, Iowa – Dowling Catholic – Major: Undeclared

• Averaged 22.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game last week as Iowa split the weekend with a win against Minnesota and a lost against No. 22/23 Northwestern

• Registered a career-high 37 points and added 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the season on Wednesday in the Hawkeyes’ 92-79 win against Minnesota

• Added eight points and eight assists as Iowa dropped its Sunday competition to the Wildcats

• Collects the sixth Freshman of the Week award of her career
