IU EAST'S GENTRY GAINS RSC VOLLEYBALL ATTACKER OF THE WEEK HONOR MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- IU East outside hitter Lexi Gentry had a career-game on her way to River States Conference Volleyball Attacker of the Week for Oct. 15-21. Gentry, a sophomore from Newburgh, Ind., had 21 kills and 27 digs in an important win over Asbury (Ky.), 3-2, to highlight her week. That improved IU East to 20-6 overall, 10-2 RSC to maintain first place in the RSC East Division. Gentry also had eight kills and five digs in a sweep of Midway (Ky.) and averaged 3.63 kills and 4.00 digs per set for the week. IU East's next match is Tuesday versus St. Mary of the Woods. IU EAST'S TOPOLSKI PICKED FOR RSC VOLLEYBALL SETTER OF THE WEEK MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- IU East junior Cali Topolski led the Red Wolves to a pair of wins and was picked for the River States Conference Volleyball Setter of the Week for Oct. 15-21. The South Bend, Ind., product averaged 10.13 assists per set in two wins on the week. That totaled 81 assists, including a high of 55 in a five-set win over Asbury (Ky.). She also added 14 digs, six kills and two aces on the week. The victory over Asbury was a double-double with 10 digs and four kills. She had 26 assists, four digs and two kills in a 3-0 win over Midway (Ky.). IU East is 20-6, 10-2 RSC and plays St. Mary of the Woods on Tuesday. IU EAST'S WIGFIELD CHOSEN RSC VOLLEYBALL DEFENDER OF THE WEEK MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- IU East libero Samantha Wigfield was chosen as the River States Conference Volleyball Defender of the Week for her play Oct. 15-21, the third time she has won the weekly honor this season. Wigfield, a sophomore from Ft. Wayne, Ind., had a big week in the back row with 49 total digs in two matches for an average of 6.13 digs per set for the week. She had a career-high 34 digs in a big win over Asbury (Ky.), 3-2. She earlier had 15 digs in a win over Midway, 3-0. Wigfield's week also included zero errors in 30 serve receptions and a serve percentage of .933. She helped improve the Red Wolves to 20-6 overall, 10-2 RSC. IU East plays St. Mary of the Woods on Tuesday.
IU EAST'S CONWAY NAMED RSC WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- IU East defender Brooke Conway powered the Red Wolves to three shutouts and was named River States Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for Oct. 15-21. A sophomore from Noblesville, Ind., Conway spearheaded a defense that stretched IU East's streak to four games without giving up a goal. In three games last week, the Red Wolves did now allow a goal with wins over Oakland City, 1-0, Brescia, 7-0, and Cincinnati Christian, 4-0. Conway's positioning and decisions put IU East at 9-3-2 overall and 4-2 RSC. The Red Wolves host Point Park for their next game on Thursday.
