IU EAST BASKETBALL ROUNDUP FOR JAN. 21

MEN

KOKOMO, Ind. – Jehu Lafeuillee scored a season-high 24 points as the Indiana University East men’s basketball team rode its best 3-point shooting night of the season to an 83-79 win at NAIA Division II No. 12 Indiana University Kokomo on Jan. 21.

IU East improved 12-9 overall and now owns the top league record in the River States Conference with a 7-1 league mark. IU Kokomo is 17-4 overall and 6-1 in the conference.

IU East made its first seven 3-point attempts – six of them from the right side – and also made all eight of its free throws in the first 20 minutes to seize a 51-42 halftime lead.

IU East returns home Jan. 28 to face Indiana University Southeast. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m. on Lingle Court in the first game of a women’s-men’s River States Conference doubleheader.

The IU East road game listed for Jan. 25 on the original Red Wolf schedule has been forfeited to IU East.

 

WOMEN

KOKOMO, Ind. – Reagan Hune scored a season-high 27 points, and the Indiana University East women’s basketball team continued its January resurgence with a 79-77 River States Conference win at Indiana University Kokomo on Jan. 21.

IU East evened its conference record at 4-4 and is 6-16 overall. IU Kokomo is 10-9 overall and 2-5 in the league.

IU Kokomo got within one possession on two occasions midway through the fourth quarter, and Hune had the answer both times. She sank a key 3-pointer with 5:42 remaining to extend the IU East lead after the Cougars had closed within one point. She made another timely basket with three minutes remaining to push the Red Wolf advantage to two possessions.

IU East returns home Jan. 28 to face Indiana University Southeast. Tipoff is at 5:30 p.m. on Lingle Court in the first game of a women’s-men’s River States Conference doubleheader.
