RICHMOND, Ind. – The Indiana University East volleyball team survived a marathon

second set and went on to a 25-21, 31-29, 25-10 home win against the University of

Rio Grande on Sept. 29 on Lingle Court.

IU East is now 15-4 overall and 5-0 in the River States Conference. Rio Grande is

6-14 overall and 2-4 in the league.

IU East saved six set points in the second set before winning three consecutive

points to win the set 31-29. Four different Red Wolves came up with kills to save

set points. Taylor McKinney put away kills for the 30th and 31st points for IU East.

IU East has won six in a row and 13 of its last 14.

IU East has won its last 17 matches against River States Conference East Division

opponents.

IU East travels to Brescia University on Oct. 5 for the first match of a weekend

road trip against River States Conference West Division opponents.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Ashley Toschlog and Savannah Hart both raced to top-10 times in

program history to highlight the day for the Indiana University East cross country

teams at the Louisville Sports Commission Cross Country Classic on Sept. 29.

Ashley Toschlog finished the women’s 5K “Silver” race in 19:49, the third-fastest

time in program history. She finished 23rd overall. Savannah Hart finished in 20:15,

the seventh-fastest time in program history. She placed 48th overall.

Cole Dudley led IU East in the men’s “Silver” race with a 55th-place finish and an

8K time of 27:35.

Every IU East runner ran a season-best or college-best time.

IU East finished 13th in the men’s team standings. The Red Wolves finished ahead of

22 teams, a program best. IU East was second out of seven River States Conference

teams in the field.

IU East finished 15th in the women’s team standings. The Red Wolves finished ahead

of 28 teams, also a program best. IU East finished second out of eight River States

Conference teams in the field.

IU East’s next meet is the Wilmington College Jenna Strong Invitational on Oct. 12.

 

COLLEGE MEN’S SOCCER

CENTERVILLE, Ind. – A first half score was enough for Georgetown College as the

Tigers won 1-0 over the Indiana University East men’s soccer team at Centerville

High School on Saturday, Sept. 29.

IU East is 3-7-0 and 0-2-0 in the River States Conference. Georgetown is 7-5-0.

Zachary Jaquess scored for the Tigers at 21:59 with an assist from Logan Blankenship.

Denis Herrera and Kevin Mendoza led IU East with four shots each.

In his second start of the season for IU East, goalkeeper Gianluca Marchetti had

eight saves for the Red Wolves.

IU East has one non-conference match remaining this fall as the Red Wolves entertain

the University of Cincinnati-Clermont on Thursday, Oct. 11.

The Red Wolves return to action at Asbury University on Thursday, Oct. 4. The River

States Conference affair in Kentucky scheduled for 5 p.m.
