INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Indiana University East track and field teams won five
events at the University of Indianapolis UIndy Season Opener on Dec. 1.
Seth Reynolds qualified for the NAIA National Indoor Championships with a winning
time of 8.20 in the 60-meter hurdles, which lowered his own school record. The
national meet is in South Dakota on March 1-2.
IU East athletes also established eight school records as the Red Wolves competed
indoors for the first time this season.
Will Mundy picked up the first win for the Red Wolves as he took the men's 400
meters in 51.19 to set a new school standard.
Abby Bittner won her first 800 meter race for the Red Wolves as she crossed the line
with a school record time of 2:27.45.
Jordan Maxwell led the charge for IU East men in the 200 meters as the Red Wolves
swept the event. Maxwell posted record time 22.72 as he finished first.
The men's 1,600-meter relay team of Seth Reynolds, Maxwell, Trent Herbert and Mundy
won establishing a new mark of 3:29.00.
Jamal Stephens was second in the 200 as he ran in the same heat as Maxwell, while
Seth Reynolds finished third overall having won his heat. Both surpassed the old
school record. There were 12 heats in the event.
The Red Wolves had two teams in the 1,600-meter relay and the group of Alex
Ferguson, Dustin Reynolds, Stephens and Mitchell Burelison ended in second place.
Bittner had a school record in the 400 meters of 1:01.87, which put her in third.
Sarai Sosa Perez was third in the 200 meters as she established a new mark of 26.89.
Stephens finished third in the 60-yard dash.
Sarah Hornak was third in the 800 meters.
Cordaijah McBride set a new standard in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.98 in the
preliminaries. She finished sixth overall.
IU East's next meet is in Ft. Wayne at the Indiana Institute of Technology Warrior
Invitational on Dec. 8.
