Jake Carr becomes new RHS Baseball Coach

Pending board approval, Richmond High School will name Jake Carr as the new head varsity baseball coach. Mr. Carr, who is a 2006 Richmond High School graduate, succeeds Shawn Turner. Mr. Carr continued his education at Earlham College and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 2010. Mr. Carr was team captain for Earlham baseball and Earlham football. Mr. Carr has been the Dean of Students at Test Intermediate School since 2017. Prior to 2017, he was an admissions counselor at Earlham College. Mr. Carr has an extensive coaching background that has prepared him for his new role as head baseball coach at Richmond High School. Mr. Carr has spent over a decade serving on the coaching staff at Richmond High School, Seton High School and Earlham College. Mr. Carr has many years of experience coaching football and wrestling at the high school level. Richmond High School Athletic Director Warren Cook stated, “Coach Carr has exhibited a great passion for baseball since he excelled as a player at Richmond High School. His experiences as a high school and college player combined with his coaching experiences will serve our student/athletes and baseball program well.” Carr says, “I’m very excited about the opportunity to lead Richmond High School’s baseball program after being involved as a high school student-athlete and many years of being on Richmond High School’s coaching staff. I believe through hard work, dedication to excellence and a healthy dose of Red Devil Pride, we will continue to have a baseball program in which we can all take great pride.” Jake and his wife, Jenny, reside in Richmond. They have three daughters.
