On the humid hills of Hickory, the Lady Knights battled the heat, sweat bees, greens, seemingly made of concrete, and their foes from the MEC the Lady Bears of Monroe Central. The Lady Knights battled and fought valiantly, but lost by 10 strokes to the Bears 190-200.
Leading the way again was Baylee Wissler with a 48, followed by McKenzie Chasteen’s 49, and Becca Schneider’s 50, a personal best for the season for Becca. Maddie Fields shot a 53 and Zoe Cline shot a 56.
“I have fallen in love with my 7-wood and I renounce using my driver because I’m just hitting the ball straighter and getting better scores. I’m getting a lot of carry with it, so it makes sense to just use the clubs that I can hit the straightest and put myself in good positions to get better scores,” said Becca.
“Goodness! I challenged the ladies to come out and show me they could dial in and shoot a good score and they responded in a big way. We were missing our #4 player today so we played our hearts out for her. Like I’ve said all season, we’re on the verge of being a great team…It comes down to the shot process, focus, concentration, finding our touch around the greens, which we did tonight, but I’m telling you, these ladies are really good. If we play like this every night AND clean up some simple mistakes, we’re shooting in the high 180s-190s and we’re in the discussion for one of the top teams in Eastern Indiana. That’s how close we are! So proud of the ladies tonight,” said Coach Haynes.
The Lady Knights are back in action 9/12 for their final TEC contest at Knightstown @ Royal Hylands @ 5pm
