After being off seven days and a sluggish first half the Richmond girls basketball team put together a strong second half as the Red Devils downed Franklin County 51-41 Tuesday night at the Tiernan Center.

Richmond led 16-13 at the half before Franklin County took a brief one point lead in the third quarter 17-16. Kierra Wright hit a three to put Richmond ahead for good as the Red Devils outscored the Wildcats 35-28 in the second half.

The Red Devils had a balanced scoring attack led by Senior Guard Braxtyn Hurley with 17 (9 in the 4th quarter), Senior Post Anna Creech added 16 (10 in the 4th quarter), Junior Forward Zoe Woolridge added eight and Junior Forward Kierra Wright poured in eight.

Franklin County was led by Kamryn McCool with 12. Megan Getz added 10, Gabby Mitchum also scored 10.

The Wildcats fell to 6-3 on the season. Richmond improved to 6-3.

Richmond won’t return to action until December 15 at home against Indianapolis Tech as part of a girls/boys doubleheader at the Tiernan Center.
