(UNION CITY RELEASE)

Mackenzie Green broke the 3 point career record against Union County on January 18th. Mackenzie had 1 three point basket lifting her past the record and giving her sole rights to it. She currently has 116 three point buckets in her career. The previous record was held by Kelsey Zimmers with 114. Mackenzie had 13 in her freshman year, 35 her sophomore year, 30 last year and currently has 38 this year. With one regular season game left and the tournament set to start the first week of February the number of threes Mackenzie will amass is likely to grow. The most 3’s in a season record still belongs to Kelsey Zimmers with 55. As a senior Mackenzie’s role has changed a bit, she is expected to be more of a leader on and off the floor. I believe Mackenzie has grown when it comes to her court decision making, as most players do along the way. She knows when she has the shot and she knows when to pass one more or drive. This has been a contributor to her success and this new record she now holds. Mackenzie also is tied for most threes in a game with 7 (Kahlee Dowler is the other individual) and she is also on her way to owning the career FT % record currently sitting at 80% and holds the single season FT record with 86%. When she was a freshman she was with the group that went to the state tournament and was a major contributor to that team, as far as minutes played, along the way. Mackenzie has been a consistent player for us throughout her career. We hope to see that continue as we finish up the regular season and enter into the post season tournament.
