The Crimson Tide holds an 11-2 advantage across the previous 13 pairings, including last season’s 52-24 win in Tuscaloosa on Oct. 3. The 2020 victory is part of the Tide’s eight-game winning streak against A&M dating back to a 49-42 win in Bryan-College Station on Sept. 14, 2013. Alabama head coach Nick Saban is 8-1 in his career against the Aggies with all nine matchups occuring during his time in Tuscaloosa. Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher is 0-4 all-time against Alabama, suffering three of the losses while at A&M and one at Florida State in 2017.
SABAN VS. FORMER ASSISTANTS: Alabama’s 42-21 win against then-No. 12/12 Ole Miss last weekend was the 24th meeting between head coach Nick Saban and one of his former assistants. Saban is 24-0 all-time against his former staffers during his tenure at the Capstone. The Crimson Tide head coach’s most wins against a former assistant is four, which have come against Jimbo Fisher (Florida State, 2017; Texas A&M 2018-20).
SABAN’S ROAD RECORD: Head coach Nick Saban owns a 80-32-1 (.712) mark in road games across his four career stops, including a 52-9 (.852) mark while at Alabama. Saban has notched eight perfect road records (2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2020) and has lost more than one game on the road in only two seasons (2007, 2010). With Alabama’s 31-29 win at then-No. 11/9 Florida on Sept. 18, the Tide has won 38 of its last 42 road games dating back to the 2011 campaign.
SABAN IN SEC ROAD GAMES: Head coach Nick Saban owns a 62-16 (.861) mark in SEC road games across his time at LSU and Alabama, including a 50-8 (.862) record with the Crimson Tide. Saban has notched nine perfect SEC road seasons (2003, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2020).
UNRANKED, NO PROBLEM UNDER SABAN: With its 63-14 win over Southern Miss on Sept. 25, Alabama has defeated 100 consecutive unranked teams under head coach Nick Saban, the longest streak in FBS history. The current streak began with a win over Colorado on Dec. 30, 2007 in the Independence Bowl. The previous record was 72 games, shared by Miami (Fla.) (1984-95) and Florida (1989-2000). Over the 100-game stretch, only Ohio State has single-digit losses to unranked opponents with nine. Under Saban, Alabama holds a 104-3 (.972) (100-3, .971 after vacations) mark against unranked opponents.
OCTOBER DOMINANCE UNDER SABAN: Alabama head coach Nick Saban has been dominant in the month of October during his time in Tuscaloosa. Saban has compiled a 50-2 (.962) mark, including 28-0 at home and 22-2 on the road . His first October loss at the helm of the Crimson Tide came in 2010 at South Carolina, with the only other loss being a 2014 loss at Ole Miss. For his career, Saban is 79-17 (.823) including a 3-1 mark at Toledo, a 12-8 record at Michigan State and a 12-6 stretch at LSU in addition to his time with the Crimson Tide. Meanwhile, Alabama is the only unbeaten FBS team in the month of October since the start of 2017 at 15-0. UA has also won 26 straight October games going into the Texas A&M contest.
BIG POINTS vs. THE SEC:Last season, Alabama defeated Kentucky by a 60-point margin with a final score of 63-3 on Nov. 21, 2020. The win against the Wildcats was the Crimson Tide’s seventh 50-plus point victory over a Southeastern Conference opponent under head coach Nick Saban. For perspective, since Saban’s arrival in 2007, the rest of the SEC has only combined for seven 50-point victories in league play over that span.
50-PLUS vs. RANKED OPPONENTS: Under head coach Nick Saban, Alabama has posted 50-plus points against Associated Press Top 25 teams on seven occasions, while three of those seven occasions came last season. The most recent instance came on Jan. 11, 2021 at the College Football Playoff National Championship Game when the Crimson Tide defeated then-No. 3/3/3 Ohio State, 52-24. SABAN vs. AP TOP 25: The Crimson Tide’s 42-21 win over then-No. 12 Ole Miss on Oct. 2 was Nick Saban’s 93rd career win, and 70th at Alabama, against the Associated Press Top 25. Saban moved past Joe Paterno (86) for the most career wins against the AP Top 25 when he defeated then-No. 22 Auburn on Nov. 28, 2020. The late Florida State legend Bobby Bowden ranks third all-time (82), while Alabama’s Paul “Bear” Bryant is fourth (66). Former Duke, Florida and South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier is fifth (64). Saban’s winning percentage against AP ranked teams (93-42, .689) tops Bryant (.592), Bowden (.557), Spurrier (.529) and Paterno (.512).

WHAT TO WATCH FOR • The Aggies will look to bounce back after dropping their first two games of conference play. • Junior RB Isaiah Spiller has been Texas A&M’s most consistent performer on offense this season as he ranks fifth in the SEC, averaging 90.60 yards per game and fourth with 6.54 per rush. • Junior TE Jalen Wydermyer is climbing A&M’s career receiving touchdowns list as he enters the week with 13 career TDs … His 11-yard grab against Mississippi State moved him into the top 10 all-time at A&M and his next grab will tie him for ninth with Tony Harrison (1990-93). • Wydermyer needs 52 receiving yards to move into second on A&M’s all-time career list among tight ends … He is 117 yards away from Martellus Bennett’s record of 1,246 as he enters the week with 1,129 to date. • Sophomore DB Antonio Johnson has led the defense in tackles in three of the team’s five games this season and leads the team on the year with 41 takedowns so far, 29 of which are solo tackles … He recorded the first double-digit tackles game of his career with 15 against the Bulldogs. • Senior PLK Seth Small is just six points away from moving into third on A&M’s all-time career scoring list, he has scored 303 points to date … Randy Bullock, who was recently inducted into the Texas A&M Athletics Hall of Fame, owns the school record of 365 points from 2008-11.
QUICK HITS • Against Arkansas, junior RB Isaiah Spiller became just the sixth Aggie rusher to tally over 500 career receiving yards, upping his total to 502 with 34 yards through the air. • Junior WR Ainias Smith ranks seventh in the nation and leads the SEC among players that have returned at least 10 punts as he averages 10.53 yards per return … His 423 career punt return yards rank 12th on A&M’s all-time list. • Junior DeMarvin Leal and graduate Micheal Clemons have been a force to be reckoned with on the defensive line over the last three games, as the pair has combined to tally 10.0 TFL, 6.0 sacks and seven QB hurries. • Sophomore P Nik Constantinou ranks 9th in the country, averaging 47.8 yards per punt on the year … Constantinou, who was named SEC Punter of the Week for his efforts against New Mexico, has sent 11 of his 23 punts more than 50 yards downfield and landed 13 of them inside the 20. • A&M boasts the fifth-best scoring defense in the country, giving up 12.6 points per game so far this year. • The Aggies saw great production out of their freshmen against New Mexico, with wide receivers Demond Demas and Moose Muhammad III making not only the first catches of their young careers, but the first TD receptions as well. • Quick starts have been a harbinger of Aggie victories in the Jimbo Fisher era … The Aggies are 21-4 when scoring first and a perfect 20-0 when leading after the first quarter.
