WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The two time AVCA All-American Caitlyn Newton has announced her return for the Fall 2021 season.

“I am excited to announce my decision to continue my career with Purdue Volleyball,” said Newton. “I look forward to continuing to grow as a player with an amazing group of girls. Our team is special, our fans are the best and it doesn’t get any better than pursuing our goals and dreams together. I am thankful to have the opportunity to be back and I can’t wait to get started.”

The Terre Haute, Indiana native graduated last December with a degree in Psychological Sciences. Newton’s fifth year of eligibility is made possible by NCAA legislation that grants student-athletes the ability to return for another season due to COVID-19’s impact.

On her way to AVCA Third Team All-America, VolleyballMag.com All-America Honorable Mention and First Team All-Big Ten accolades, Newton played in all but one set this spring. She led the toughest conference in women’s collegiate volleyball in points (390), points per set (4.70), attacks per set (12.57) and total attacks (1,043). In addition to being among the top-13 in the nation in said categories, she ranked No. 8 in the nation in services aces.

With her decision, Purdue completes its 2021 roster, with both eligible seniors (Otec and Newton) returning for their fifth season.
